Half Life is a game of cliffhangers
by Grimblast on Jun.23, 2009, under Game of Note, Gaming
Well after playing through all that the Orange Box had to offer, I honestly can’t wait for another episode for Half Life 2. They have a way of story telling and yet making the game remain very fun and making you want to play more. The graphics are awesome as always and more is revealed with each episode. I hope they don’t take too long on making that 3rd episode if they are even making one. They so leave you hanging at the end of episode 2.
For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, these episodes are extensions to the game. They occur after you get to the end of the normal Half Life 2 campaign. They are sort of like expansions and boy do they have a bit of content. If you do look into trying any of these, the link I provided shows you what is in the Orange Box. All of the games in it are awesome and worth getting bundled. I had mentioned it in a previous post but seriously get that box. It is well worth it!
FPS Goodness: Team Fortress 2
by Grimblast on Jun.13, 2009, under Gaming
Well after some boredom struck, I decided to finally pickup the Orange Box since it had so much bundled with it for an affordable price. I got the opportunity last night to try TF 2 and boy is it fun! I can probably play that for several hours on end and not get tired of it. I like how the game gives your class a personality and randomly says things when you blow up some players or when you kill your ‘nemesis’. AKA, the player that has killed you a lot that match. You can execute some funny actions to say or throw back at the enemy or call for a medic so they can see you on their HUD and come heal you. So far I’ve played as a medic and demoman. The demo man makes me laugh due to his accent they gave him. So fitting that his melee weapon is a bottle heh.
But since I’m not up to typing a huge critique article due to being at work, follow the links in this post to get an idea what the game looks like. They have a real winner with the way the game appears, sounds, and plays. It’s simple and affordable. I may come back to edit this post or make a seperate one on my findings in the game. They recently patched it so there are a few new things in it I guess. But back to work for me!
Back to Winamp!
by Grimblast on Jun.10, 2009, under Music
It’s been years since I’ve used Winamp and I’m glad to see that they can put songs on my Ipod now. Good bye resource heavy Itunes and welcome you beautifal music player of past enjoyment! I used Winamp over Windows Media player since it was light weight and easy to use. I’m glad to see it’s still easy to use and has a few new features that aren’t too bad. If you haven’t check it out, I recommend following my link in this post and check it out for yourself. I especially love the strand internet radio stations you can find in it so if you are looking for something different to listen to, I suggest you grab it and check them out!
You too will discover why it,”Really whips the llama’s ass!” *whip noise*
Left 4 Dead 2, man that’s fast!
by Grimblast on Jun.05, 2009, under Game of Note, Gaming
I happened upon this article from a creatively named site and it’s worth a read if you have played Left 4 Dead. Valve has an interesting approach to games than some other companies. The idea that they make them for entertainment rather than for the time of year gives you some idea of how they like to distribute their games. I like the way they distribute their games on Steam. Granted you do have to download some pretty big games on there but I think it’s worth it.
On a side/random note: Nothing like fragging tons of zombies in a game
Windows 7 RC
by Grimblast on Jun.05, 2009, under The Usual Blargh
Last night I installed the Windows 7 RC. Not exactly what I meant to do since I was trying to get my XP machine formated and reinstalled. During the install process it asked for me to do the usual verification over the internet to Microsoft so I could activate my windows software since I just reinstalled it. I went ahead and did that and it was hunky dorey with that. I finished installing my hardware drivers for my motherboard and video card and proceeded to restart my computer. Once restarted, it asked to reverify my XP install as if I just changed my hardware again!? So out of my own curiosity I went ahead and let it reverify and it gave me a red flag. Gave me some rubish indicating that I should call their customer service or get another windows key. Way to think I’m trying to pirate your software, Microsoft…
Zancarius put it best. They assume you’re a software pirate before you’ve even installed the software! So instead of screwing around with their silly time consuming customer service, I decided to check out Windows 7. I got it installed last night but haven’t had much time to screw around with it. I didn’t like Vista so we will see what Windows 7 has to offer. In any case, I may have to get it when it comes out. I view Vista as another Windows ME. POS software that should’ve never been made. It was a funky hybrid of Windows 98 and 2000 it seemed. Not fully one or the other.
Kungfu Star found dead!?
by Grimblast on Jun.04, 2009, under Movie of Note, The Usual Blargh
So I was doing my usual browsing of the internet when I get free time and I came across some bad news. David Carradine, who was in the Kung-fu series and Kill Bill was found dead in a Bangkok hotel. They claim it was suicide which to me seems strange for a person like him. Not that I’m spinning some conspiracy or anything. I didn’t know the guy personally but just struck me as odd that during the filming of a movie he was working on that he would go and off himself.
All the shows and movies he was in, he never seemed like a cookie cutter actor. He had his own way of representing the characters he played and they all didn’t sound or act the same. I think he was a good actor in the few roles he had and he will be missed.
Ever Notice…
by Grimblast on Jun.02, 2009, under The Usual Blargh
Ever notice how good sites or information has a way of dissappearing due to people not keeping their domains up or just getting tired of posting? I hate browsing to a forum and finding that the last entry was from last year. Seriously, what’s the use in running it but never posting to it. I hate how people will say oh so and so’s software or addon is great but when you go to read about it, their site is antiquated and their last updated was several years back. If it was so good, then why doesn’t the author of it give a crap?
Anyways, I’m just ranting about the retards seen on the internet. Nothing odd about it since there is a lot of stupid to behold.
