Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!
by Grimblast on Dec.22, 2011, under The Usual Blargh
Yeah, I’ve not been keeping up over the months as I planned but I assure you I’m still around! I was busy with doing some coding over the past few months on top of trying to work on a new site design for my other site. I ended up getting a nifty theme for it so I changed gears and ended up gathering data about the new Star Wars: The Old Republic game. After I played beta, I was instantly hooked on the game play. I especially like the fact that what you choose as a dialogue choice affects your outcome in your own personal story in the MMO. Anyways, I might look into updating this personal sites theme but gotta pry myself away from all the other stuff I’m working on/playing so stay tuned as always!
Few months late post
by Grimblast on Jan.26, 2011, under The Usual Blargh
Yeah, its been a busy few months! Trying to juggle work and life is sometimes a pain in the butt. Anyways, I’ve been working on moving to a new place so hopefully once I’ve settled down and started purchasing a home(with all the other expenses, yay) I should be making more posts here and in other places I frequent. I’ve been thinking of doing more theme based posts on here but it will have to wait until I settle down and I’m moved into whichever home I think I want to buy. It’s amazing how many homes are for sale around here that need fixing up. I suppose it is a given that any home isn’t perfect but the price tag on some homes is way too high given the problems that I could identify. Some of the places I’ve checked remind me of the movie “The Money Pit”. I was tempted to see if one home had weak trees, hah!
An Act of Random Will
by Grimblast on Jul.15, 2010, under The Usual Blargh
For some reason today, while sitting at work, I decided it was time to get my hair cut short. For those that didn’t know, I had grown my hair very long over the course of 2 to 3 years. The barber was in shock that I wanted it cut due to the way my hair naturally curls when it is long. I pretty much wanted short hair thanks to the super hot summer and the tons of maintenance long hair requires. So, within a half hour, my hair was made short. I donated my 10inch segment of hair to a program for cancer patients so it could be put towards making a wig. I like the long hair but this year’s weather doesn’t like it!
Blizzcon 2010
by Grimblast on Jun.05, 2010, under Gaming, Geekdom, The Usual Blargh
Well, after some guys at the office mentioned about going to Blizzcon this year, I figured I’d go as well since we could all car pool there. As of 11:01am this morning, I got my tickets for Blizzcon so looks like I’ll need to make plans for the trip in October since that’s when they are having the convention. It’s pretty exciting to think about since I’ve always wanted to go. I’ll have to gear up my camera for pictures and what not so I can possibly share them here.
Pacman 30th Anniversary
by Grimblast on May.21, 2010, under Gaming, Geekdom
Today is the 30th anniversary of the game Pacman. The only way I found out was from a coworker that went to search something up on google.com. They had changed their logo to a pacman ish logo. I found that it had a mouseover which mentioned the anniversary and if you click it, you can actually play pacman in the logo with your arrow keys. Now that is cool!
Now for some Windows 7 Tips
by Grimblast on Apr.24, 2010, under Geekdom, The Usual Blargh, note to self
Windows 7 has all kinds of neat perks and tricks that anyone can take advantage of if they know where to look or do to use them. Since beta, a friend of mine had wrote a few blog posts about Windows 7 and ways to tweak or use it. You can find him and his rantings here. I would have linked to every article but it’s better if you actually browse through his site since he has quite a few useful articles on all sorts of things.
The boys over at maximumpc.com have also done something similar about windows 7. There’s quite a few pages to what they posted but its all good info. If you haven’t checked these 2 sites out and you have windows 7, then I guess you need to haul click-butt over to them now!
Screwing around online
by Grimblast on Apr.24, 2010, under The Usual Blargh
I haven’t had much to post about lately. It’s been so busy with work and company that I just haven’t had the time for much else. Next week I should have something to put up on here. Until then, hang in there!
Food Poisoning for a Charity?!
by Grimblast on Apr.06, 2010, under The Usual Blargh, note to self
Well, last Friday I purchased an enchilada lunch plate that was for a little league charity fund raiser and ended up with food poisoning. It didn’t kick in until 8 or so hours later. That was one ugly twist of the stomach and body aches all over. I had to work Saturday and that’s when my symptoms kicked in. Man, lets just say the toilet gods shined on me since I was the only guy in the building Saturday. I made so many trips it looked like I was doing drills! Needless to say, that killed my gut’s appetite for mexican food for awhile.
Autocad Training, Day 3
by Grimblast on Feb.25, 2010, under The Usual Blargh
Well, the day was off to a slow start today. The training pretty much went over what we did the past 2 days as sort of a refresher. We then dived into the real deal with actual work orders that were completed but still needed posted on the maps. We got some good hands on examples and turned the training exercise into something productive. Can’t beat that for experience.
Autocad Training, Day 2
by Grimblast on Feb.24, 2010, under The Usual Blargh
Well, looks like we didn’t do much else today save for the actual linking and labeling of what we drew. Working with the database software that integrates into autocad is easy since I’ve been using it for practically a year now so linking locations on the map to the database is easy stuff. Tomorrow is supposed to bring it on with the more advanced stuff.
As a side note, I would’ve never thought I’d be dealing with autocad. I went into everything computers that I could for my college education and here I am working in an engineering department. Funny what places life can take you. I was given a comment today that due to my IT background, I could work just about any job because I can pickup on things a lot faster than most. Most software behaves the same as the next. The trick is making each ones functions relate to something you’ve used or done before.
